DarkSky Awards - Call for Nomination

On behalf of the DarkSky Awards Committee, I am happy to share with you the call for nominations for the prestigious DarkSky Awards, especially the Dark Sky Defender Award. This award honours individuals and organisations that have made exceptional efforts to promote and advance the DarkSky’s mission to preserve night skies worldwide. Six Dark Sky Defender awards are given annually - one to someone on each of the inhabited continents.

We seek nominations from Africa, where growing communities of dark sky protectors and astro-tourism facilities are making significant strides. We aim to recognise and promote these outstanding efforts.

Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in public education and outreach on light pollution, promoted regulatory methods to reduce light pollution, engaged with media and policymakers to elevate the issue, and fostered collaborations to drive positive change.
